Curry Puff Bonanza at the Indian Bazaar

About a year after we moved to Brisbane, we decided that with our culinary skills we should venture out to sell some curry puff at the Brunswick Street Saturday market. So for the next year and a half, every Friday night we had curry puff cooking session at the Centre which we then sell at the market the next morning.

That year, 1991, the India Cultural Association decided to organise a Indian cultural festival. Noela, a member of our Centre, being a committee member of the Bengali association was invited to become a member of the organising committee for this festival. Such being the case, our Centre was invited to have a stall at the festival. We decided to have half the stall for books and music of Guru and the other to sell curry puffs.

The festival was to be held on the weekend when Kapila and I just get back from New York August celebration. So in our absence, the boys from the Centre (after a year and half of hands-on curry puff making on Friday nights) took on the task of making the curry puffs for this festival. They organised an all night Curry Puff marathon sessions in their kitchen and produced 400 glorious curry puff.

We sold about 100 !!!

The good news …. Every man, woman, dogs, cats on the streets around the Centre had a good taste of our curry puffs ! Everyone is an expert in making curry puff here in the Brisbane Centre.
