Ear Plugs at the Indy Grand Prix in Gold Coast

Our very very first fundraising adventure is at the Indy Grand Prix in Gold Coast in September after we have just moved to Brisbane a couple of months before. We have never done anything like that before - direct selling and worst, cold selling on the street. We make up some billboards to wear and off we go to the Indy.

It told us a lot to muster up all our nervous courage to stand out on the street wearing our signs. The next thing is to try to squeeze out feeble little wail that sounds like ‘Ear plug !’. God ! If our friends or family would see us, we would die !

Kapila was so embarrassed that she had to eventually retreat behind a pillar. I literally had to drag her out !

Eventually, though we throw our egos to the wind and start to get into the swing. And by the end we were having fun.

People would see our signs and then crack up a couple of metres after they passed as they see the humour in the sign.

We became quite a favourite photographic subject for the enthusiastic Japanese tourists and there were lots of them at the Gold Coast. They seemed to think that it is quite hilarious that a pair of most unlikely Chinese and Sri Lanka girls are doing this !

The venture eventually help us to pay off our cost for the first lots of classes we did in Brisbane.
